Kelly Tissot (*1995, lives in Basel) and Valentina Triet (*1991, lives in Zurich and Vienna) are showing their largest exhibitions to date at Kunst Raum Riehen.
The works of Valentina Triet and Kelly Tissot were mostly created especially for the exhibition at Kunst Raum Riehen. The two young artists have given their joint exhibition the title "Kelly & Valentina". Initially, it simply links the artists' first names without specifying a program.
In both positions, the observation of their immediate environment flows into their works, there is a clear reduced formal language, no loud appearance, and photography is a central medium of their respective work. While Tissot is showing three steel sculptures in the exhibition alongside a series of photographs, Triet is presenting her video series "Pattern as a Teacher" with the addition of a new work.
Tissot is interested in the tension between our often romanticized conception of the rural and the attempt to contrast it with an alternative in her analogue photographs presented in large format in contrast to the raw steel sculptures. Triet's short videos, which are visibly assembled from photographic or scanned individual images, show light phenomena, patterns or forms from different contexts. They show us the process of processing visual sensory impressions and the constant attempt to generate a context of meaning from them.
