Due to the increasing fusion of entrepreneurship and art-making, studios have become one-person or collective businesses. In addition to constantly producing in a quiet little room, it is important to build up a network and assert oneself on the free art market. Those who still find time also organize and curate their own exhibitions in institutions or off-spaces.
Dedicating oneself full-time to art usually means leading a life of great uncertainty and financial strain. However, the public is only slowly becoming aware of how many people consciously pursue this path. It is said that art is an essential part of our democracy and, among other things, helps us to broaden narrow views, that it keeps utopias alive and creates spaces of possibility. But how much is it really worth to society? And does society also share responsibility for the flourishing of art?
The group exhibition focuses on various forms of artistic entrepreneurship and also shows positions that address the conditions of being an artist in their work.
