Busch, Serkin, Reger, Riehen

Saturday, August 1, 2015 – Sunday, September 6, 2015

In collaboration with Max-Reger-Institut Karlsruhe, curated by Jürgen Schaarwächter
The exhibition is organized in conjunction with the Klangraum Riehen Marlboro festival (August 23 to 31, 2015)

In January 1909, Adolf Busch played the violin concerto in A major op. 101 by heart to the composer Max Reger (1873-1916). The composer was delighted and was soon performing regularly with the young violinist; Reger completed his last major concert tour with Busch, whom he regarded as a kind of musical foster son and to whom he wanted to dedicate his last, unfinished composition. Busch and his son-in-law Rudolf Serkin remained closely associated with Reger's work throughout his life. On the eve of the Reger centenary in 2016, this is reason enough to explore the most diverse lines of connection.
